People need to see your web pages on your web site so that they can make the decision to purchase your product or service. When someone comes to your web site we say they are "visiting it". Some times you may hear people that have been using the Internet for many years refer to a visitor as a "hit". The "number" of "visitors / hits" to your web page or web site are important, but the "quality" of the visitor is important too. How to get people to visit your web site involves many skills. Some of the things that are needed the web page designer and developer must do to make it happen. Other things you, as the owner of the business, can, should, and must do. The following will give a very brief overview of how these things work. You don't need to be an expert in this area, that is our job at Barya Lang Web Page Design. You should know how it would all work together in a general way so you can do your part. There are three main ways that you can increase "traffic" to your web site. The first, Personal promotion , is really your job as part of your everyday business activities. Whenever you have calling cards, stationary, flyers, handouts, and etc. printed don't forget to list your Internet web site address on them. Whenever you place an ad in the newspaper, TV, radio, and etc. don't forget to include your Internet web site address. When you talk to friends, neighbors, prospective customers and clients mention your Internet web site address. Remember that your web site is available 24/7 (24 hours every day, 7 days every week, in other words, always). It can answer questions those friends, neighbors, prospective customers, and clients need to know so they can make the decision to purchase your product or service. The visitors that you invite to your web site will be generally of higher "quality" than the average Internet surfer. The people you contact will already have some kind of relationship with you and your business. You do not want to miss the opportunity of inviting them to see your web site. "Links" are places on a web page that the visitor can click on to go to a different web page. Sometimes links are text words or sentences that are highlighted or underlined. Many times there is a picture, graphic, or "icons" that will let the viewer know they can click there to go to some other page. We at Barya Lang Web Page Design generally use highlighting to alert you to a clickable "link" and cause the word to change color when you place the mouse cursor on it. There is a great value in having a person, using the Internet to search for something, click on a link that takes them to your web site and a page that is related to what they want to find. That is most important if their main purpose of using the Internet is to find a product or service that you offer. You would LOVE to have a link to your web site on the pages of every competitor. That is not likely to happen unless you have a very special relationship with your competitor. Those relationships exist and many businesses find that they will offer "reciprocal links" to each other. In other words you both agree to allow a link on your page going to their page so that prospective customers can see the kinds of service that you both offer. This works best when the two businesses are related but not exactly the same. A step that has been proving to be very useful over the past 20 plus years is to create a "Menu" in a common area that will list many businesses with the same or similar products or services. In 2007 many major companies are dedicated to doing just that. They "sell" you the opportunity to have a link to your web site in their "Menu" along with other businesses. Major "Menus" for popular products or services may charge hundreds of dollars to put your "link" in their "Menu". The advantage of being listed in one of those "Menus" is that when a prospective customer for your product or service is searching for something you will have an opportunity available for them to choose your web site for them to learn about what you offer. This brings very "high quality" visitors to your web page. When parents are looking for braces for their child's teeth they may go to a "Menu" that list dentists and orthodontists. If you were a dentist or orthodontist you would want to be listed in that "Menu". We at Barya Lang Web Page Design have been creating many "Menus" for people to list their web page in. Currently we will list your web site in one such menu as part of our basic web site / web page design. We try to choose one that will work best but you can make the selection if you want. It may be a great advantage to be listed in many of the menus we create. We charge a one time only flat 50 peso fee ($1 one dollar US) for each menu you want to be listed in. Later, if these menus become very popular we may charge monthly fees for new clients but your listing will stay there without additional costs if you get listed early. This generates additional income for us to pay for the work of listing you. It also keeps people from asking to be listed in "every" menu we have. You will know what is needed. It makes no sense to be listed in a menu that does not relate to your business. In the Philippines there are millions of businesses that have multiple products or services that may not seem related to each other. You know if you have other products or services that you want to attract customers to. Just let us know what you want, pay us the 50 pesos (or $1) and we will put you in a menu. If we don't have a menu for a particular product or service we will create a new one (even if yours is the only business listed in it) in the beginning. Last, topic "Get listed with search engines" . Search engines are a kind of "menu" that is created "new" each time a person enters "key words" into the area available for typing in a search request. The companies that create these search engines spend millions of dollars generating huge amounts of data so they can create these "custom menus" for the searching person. Yahoo and Google currently dominate the worldwide effort of building these custom menus called "search results". If you make a search for a very common word, and do not add limiting factors, you may end up with a menu containing 10 million entries, almost useless beyond the first page or two. We will include words on your web page that may seem unneeded just to get your web page to the top of the list that counts. An example is that we will use the word "Philippines" a lot even when we all know that Manila, Cebu, Marikina, and Rizal are in the Philippines. But including the word "Philippines" allows the person to get a list with the Philippine businesses at the top when Philippine businesses is what they want. There are many smaller companies creating search results from all over the world. We at Barya Lang Web Page Design build web pages that are clean, easy for the search engines to find, index, and use. That is our job and we do it well. There are millions of web sites built at a huge cost, which look pretty, and seem to be very attractive. If those sites are never listed in a search engine then a major opportunity is lost. We target getting our clients pages into Yahoo and Google because if they are listed there then other search engines will also be able to list them if they want. Because every day there are millions of new web pages being created throughout the world it may take Yahoo and Google 6 months or more to go to you web page, index it, and make it available in their database, so be patient. Search engines do not "see" photos, pictures, and graphics. They see "words" only so give us "words" to use for your web page. The photos, pictures, and graphics are good for "humans" to see once they get to your web page but they don't help the search engines find your web page. |
